International World Water Day at the V&A Waterfront

Help save water and donate a water bucket to the Water Collective Project for World Water Day at the V&A Waterfront.

Studio H, a multi-disciplinary Cape Town-based design studio has designed an installation to draw Cape Town residents’ attention to the urgent water crisis in the city.

By designing a giant installation with water buckets Studio H hopes to inspire all V&A Waterfront visitors to use water wisely and to share their best water saving tips with the public by posting them on the boards at the installation and via the #WaterCollective hashtag on social media.

Visitors will be able to get information on Cape Town’s water usage at the installation, as well as tips on how to save water and collect and use grey water. Buckets will be used in the installation to illustrate local water usage in different infographic-type installations.
The buckets will later be donated to the Thula Thula Project in Hout Bay, an organisation founded to offer relief to victims of this month’s devastating fire in Hout Bay valley.

Visitors to the installation can pledge a bucket for donation and all donations will be matched by the V&A Waterfront, as part of their ongoing commitment to water conservation. The various water saving initiatives implemented over the years at the V&A Waterfront have resulted in a 25% water reduction across the property since 2010, making the company a great example to its corporate peers.

“Through the installation we hope to encouraging all Capetonians to make small changes individually, which together will make a big difference, collectively. We are very grateful to the V&A Waterfront for supporting our initiative and for making it possible,” says Hannerie Visser, founder of Studio H.

Capetonians are encouraged to come to the V&A Waterfront to share their water saving tips and to donate a water bucket from todAY until 22 March, which is also recognized as International World Water Day
