Not just a new wonder!  Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company is the overall winner of the 2011 Imvelo Responsible Tourism Award.  Selected from the six category winners, announced at the awards ceremony in Johannesburg (9 November 2011), this recognises the company making quantifiable, tangible and sustained contributions to responsible tourism .

Celebrations erupted at the V&A Waterfront on Friday November 11 as Table Mountain was named a New 7 Wonder of Nature following a three year battle in the race to choose the world’s seven most wonderful natural sites.

It’s been five months since the launch of the Table Mountain National Park Patrol Dog Campaign – and with only two dogs to go until the target is met – the campaign is a roaring success.

The Climate Train

In the run up to COP17 in Durban from November 28, 2011, a Climate Train will travel across South Africa, to 17 towns in 7 provinces, showcasing artwork and holding events about the COP negotiations... And the Cape Town Green Map will be aboard!

Strolling through the Company Gardens early this morning reminded me why these inner city green "lungs" are so important. They are spaces to escape from the bustling city tempo, slow down and actually relax for your 30min lunchbreak!

5 Star Aurecon Centre

Tiara Walters, Sunday Times Green Life columnist, drew attention to a 5 star Cape Town building showing that an increasing numbers of local developments are showing their carbon credentials.

Cape Town has been named World Design Capital for the year 2014, ahead of fellow short-listed cities, Dublin and Bilbao. The sought-after accolade was awarded to the Mother City this morning at the International Design Alliance (IDA) Congress in Taipei.
