The City of Cape Town's My Clean Green Home in Green Point Park is open again to visitors on certain days for the next few months.
You are encouraged to visit and explore the full sized net zero carbon home. The highly energy efficient home is powered by solar PV and is part of the City’s climate change response and resilience campaign, Let’s ACT For a Stronger Cape Town.
‘The exhibit home gives visitors a chance to walk through and experience for themselves this sustainable way of living. The home shows that small actions can make the world of difference and offers inspiration to all. With no- and low-investment, all residents can act to make even small changes within their homes to increase their energy, water and waste efficiency.
'As part of the City’s climate action, we are aiming to be carbon neutral by 2050 and the City has committed that all new buildings in Cape Town will be net zero carbon by 2030. While net zero carbon homes seem as if they would be difficult to create, this exhibit home shows that the building techniques and technologies already exist and are increasingly within reach of the average household. We encourage all Capetonians to visit the home and see just what they can do in their own homes,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, Councillor Beverley van Reenen.
My Clean Green Home, located at the park’s South Gate, is open from 11:00 to 15:00 on these dates:
24 February
2, 16, 29, 30, 31 March
1, 13, 27 April

Special activation dates are on 29, 30 and 31 March and 1 April 2024 to learn about energy, water and waste, and sustainable usage of natural resources and environmental awareness.
