The Two Oceans Aquarium invites families to “Look Closer” this school holiday (27 March – 7 April 2026), offering an immersive experience that celebrates the hidden wonders of South Africa’s marine environment.
From the intricate ecosystems along our coastline to the fascinating small animals often overlooked, this holiday programme encourages visitors to slow down, explore, and discover the ocean in new and meaningful ways. With extended opening hours from 09h00 to 18h00, guests will have more time to enjoy the Aquarium and all it has to offer.
You can look forward to a range of engaging daily activities designed for all ages. Feeding times provide an exciting opportunity to learn more about the Aquarium’s animals, with sharks fed on Saturdays at 12h00, stingrays on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 12h00, kelp forest animals on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 12h00, and penguins fed daily at 11h30 and 14h30.
Younger visitors can get creative in the Children’s Play Centre, where a variety of craft activities will be available throughout the holiday. Daily puppet shows at 10h30, 13h30, and 15h30 promise entertainment and learning in equal measure.
Interactive “Look Closer” Panels
Adding to the experience, interactive “Look Closer” panels placed throughout the Aquarium invite visitors to identify animals from magnified images, encouraging curiosity and discovery as they explore the exhibits.
On weekends, Aquarium mascots Nemo, Silver, and Samantha will make special appearances, offering memorable moments for visiting families. Guests can also collect a free activity sheet on arrival, packed with puzzles and colouring activities to enhance their visit and continue the learning at home.
For those looking to extend their ocean journey beyond the Aquarium, Marine Marvels, an engaging online course guided by Ocean Campus teachers, offers a deeper dive into the incredible diversity of marine life.
