The St. George Cathedral is South Africa's oldest cathedral and home to the seat of Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The St. George's Cathedral is the oldest cathedral in South Africa and played an important role during apartheid when they actively opposed the segregation rules by inviting people of all backgrounds to become members of the congregation. This gave it the nickname the 'People's Cathedral'. It's a nice cathedral to view while visiting the center of Cape Town, and there are also tours that discuss the cathedral's history and architecture. These need to be booked ahead of time.
