The award-winning rose garden in Durbanville serves as a global rose nursery for young roses and is one of only three trial rose gardens in the Southern Hemisphere.
Visitors to the rose garden can enjoy tea served by various charity organisations on Sundays from 14:30 to 17:30 in the garden’s tearoom, from October to May. Six full-time council gardeners tend to the roses throughout the year and are assisted by volunteers from the Friends of the Rose Garden. Public picking of roses is not permitted, but pruning demonstrations are given twice a year.
