Spier is a wine estate and farm in Stellenbosch, in the heart of South Africa's Cape winelands. Art, culture, wine, food, nature and conservation are the pillars of the Spier experience, and all are abundant on the estate.
Sustainability initiatives underway at Spier include a wastewater treatment plant that cleans up to 250000L of water per day, the recycling of more than 80% of its solid waste, a vermiculture programme, a drive to significantly reduce energy and water consumption, biodynamic farming practices and a biodiversity plan. Spier is also home to conservation programmes in the form of Cheetah Outreach, Eagle Encounters and the eradication of alien vegetation.
