The Backpack in Cape Town is an award-winning Fair Trade hostel that invests in people and communities, providing meaningful and relaxed travel experiences to visitors. The hostel has been accredited by Fair Trade in Tourism since 2006.
Facilities at the Backpack include a travel centre, cafe, swimming pool, guarded parking, safes, luggage storage, a community shop, a self-catering kitchen, a washing and laundry facility and Wi-Fi access.
The Backpack team also focus on uplifting staff and community; commitment towards transparency, high-level standards and profit sharing for the majority of staff. Community involvement is a core feature of The Backpack’s ethos. They are involved in numerous community upliftment projects.
