Camphill Village provides a safe environment in which to live and work for between 80 and 90 intellectually challenged adults, so that they can experience a meaningful and fulfilling life. It is set on a farm, 40km north of Cape Town and has 13 houses and several enterprises in which Residents work.
There are currently over 100 Camphill Communities worldwide. Camphill communities seek to enhance the lives of people in need of services and supports for daily living, as well as people committed to service, by building intentional "life-sharing" communities where the spiritual integrity of every human being is upheld. Mutual support and respect for each other create a healthy environment for healing and development.
The Village Store is currently open to the public to serve the local Dassenberg community for limited hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday. People from the neighbourhood can buy our Camphill products here, order our dairy products to collect and also pick up staple groceries, such as flours and rice, free-range eggs, dried fruit, cleaning products and so on.
Opening times are: Monday and Wednesday 13h30-15h00;
Friday 15h00-17h00

Camphill Village Market is held on the first Sunday of every month (except January) from 10am to 2pm.
A wide range of goods are on offer: Camphill’s own produce of organic vegetables, fruits and herbs, the dairy's legendary yoghurts and cheeses, the bakery’s renowned breads, biscuits and rusks, the herbal workshops fragrant lotions and soaps. The Camphill cafe serves up a tempting array of cakes, all freshly baked in the village, and tempts the appetite with bacon and egg rolls, quiches, wraps, salads and vegetarian lunches. Visiting stallholders add their own craft products to the mix, as well as plants, delectable cooked food,
baked goods, jewellery and crystals.
Then there is Camphill’s charity shop to scour for a bargain, and some of the residents run their own stalls selling their artwork, crafts or second-hand books. Live music from a variety of artists keeps the vibe cool, while children have a fine time on the jungle gym, talking to the donkeys or enjoying a pony ride. Tractor rides give everyone a chance to explore the whole village at a gentle pace, visiting the various animals and learning about the farm.
