Soil for Life is a public benefit organisation that teaches people how to grow their own food, improve their health and wellbeing, and nurture and protect the environment. We believe EVERYONE has the potential to grow nutritious food, with whatever resources they have available.
Since we started in 2002 we have helped thousands of people in resource poor communities to develop productive and sustainable home food gardens. We have also shared valuable information about health and nutrition and provided them with the knowledge
and tools to live healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives.
HOME FOOD GARDENING PROGRAMME
Between 2009 and 2017 we trained 4,630 gardeners in 16 low-income areas of Cape Town including Delft, Gugulethu, Khayelitsha, Philippi and Steenberg. Their tiny, green oases are helping feed families and, for some, to generate an income. The benefits are numerous on many levels – for the individuals we train, their families, their communities and the planet.
Opening Hours:
Monday to Friday: 9am to 4pm
Saturday: 9am to 1pm
Closed on Sundays and public holidays
