A Bicycling Empowerment Centre is a shop owned by a previously disadvantaged person, who is trained by the Bicycle Empowerment Network (BEN) in bicycle mechanics and basic business skills and then starts their own shop, mostly operating in a refurbished container where the person is then able to sell and repair bicycles.
