Wetlands

Situated in the Philippi Horticultural Area, the Kings Kraal Farm contains strandveld fynbos, wetlands and is a haven for Cape Flats fauna and flora.

Situated between Clovelly and Fish Hoek, the Lower Silvermine Wetlands are rehabilitated floodplains featuring Hangklip sand fynbos, sand dunes, and aquatic and wetland areas.

Intaka Island is a majestic 16-hectare wetland and bird sanctuary situated at the heart of Century City in Cape Town. The area is a unique example of nature conservation and property development co-existing in harmony.

Glencairn Education & Environmental Support Enthusiasts (GEESE) are a group of people who are passionate about the Glencairn vlei and working to keep it clean and protected. The GEESE group conducts litter clean-ups, typha (bulrush) clearance and multiple other environmental projects.

Zoarvlei Wetland forms part of the larger Table Bay Nature Reserve. The reserve protects diverse bird life, including a variety of water birds and gulls. 

The Rietvlei Wetland in Table Bay Nature Reserve offers a variety of habitats for local wildlife, including a permanent freshwater lake, shallow marshes that flood in winter, reed beds, a river, and an estuarine lagoon with salt marshes that is open to the sea. A strip of coastal dunes separates the reserve from Table Bay.
