The Glencairn Wetland is a small nature reserve on the Cape Peninsula, in the southern areas of Cape Town. The reserve protects the Cape wetland of the lower Else River, and is home to an abundance of indigenous plant and animal life.

The Cape Flats Nature Reserve represents the conservation efforts at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) to preserve a biodiverse site, featuring the unique flora and fauna that once flourished in the surrounding area before urbanisation occurred. The reserve is privately owned by the UWC and occupies about 25% of the campus.

Harmony Flats Nature Reserve is located between Gordon’s Bay and Strand. It is a small 9 ha reserve that supports over 220 plant species - of which more than 30 are endangered. The nature reserve was first proclaimed in 1986 and its purpose was to provide a home for the critically endangered geometric tortoise.

Silwerbloomkloof Nature Reserve is a beautiful 4,9 ha kloof in Somerset West, just northwest of the Helderberg Nature Reserve. It was proclaimed a Natural Heritage Site in 1988. The site conserves a forest of silver trees, as well as granite fynbos and renosterveld, with 220 plant species.

The Uitkamp Wetland Nature Reserve was proclaimed a nature reserve in 2001. The reserve is a precious 32 ha wetland valley in a renosterveld region, with 140 different plants and many rare species.
