The art theme, set by Director of the Vendor Art Programme, Elaine Millin, for THE BIG ISSUE #351 relates to this time of cold and floods - what brings warmth into your heart and life? The artists could explore warmth of friendship, love of family, colours of nature and warmth of the sun.

The artwork for the cover is a work by Simon Adams, who only recently joined the art group. His work is titled Happiness and is sure to add warmth on the wall. Together with the other artists, through vivid strokes and deeply personal perspectives they explore the ultimate antidotes to the winter blues: the unbreakable bond of family, the joy of childhood, the loyalty of true friends, and the brilliant, defiant colours of nature. Even after the heaviest storms, these works remind us that there is always a quiet, beautiful mornong waiting to break through.

Simon Adams sells at Corner N2 Off Ramp and Chris Barnard Road
Simon Adams(66) lives at The Haven Old Age Home at Aberdeen Street, in Woodstock. He is blessed with two children who stay at his late parent’s house at Heideveld in his parents’ house where he was born. He helps his children with the needs of his grandchildren and that makes him happy.
He has been selling The Big Issue magazine for a year. He is grateful to have joined the Big Issue as he can provide for himself and his family.
Simon wishes that he can get a parttime job in Construction since he has the experience of Costing and an Electric Wireman License.
And hopefully he will develop a following for his artworks!

These are the works of the five other artists featured in THE BIG ISSUE #351

Cynthia Gogotya - When days are dark friends are few
Elsie Ntsini - Trees and bright flowers
Michael van der Walt - Children playing under waterfalls
Siphokazi Magoyibane - Colourful flowers
