Unbelievable to realise, says Heather, that Two Oceans Aquarium had turned 30 years old in the last week of November and there was so much to celebrate. Aquarium Mascots paraded around the V&A Waterfront spreading the news and there was a Stakeholders Cocktail Party to mark the occasion. And thoughts about plans for the next 30 years. A time to reassess who they were, and what they are, and growing their education and conservation ethos.
The school holidays are upon us, so what to look forward to? The intention is to draw the children in and let them explore the wonder pf the oceans. There's the Play Centre with activities themed around the festive season. There are the Puppet Shows with 3 shows daily, There are the various feeding times of the penguins and other ocean feeds daily. All this PLUS extended school holiday opening hours: open from 9:00am to 6:00pm,
Very exciting is that Two Oceans Aquarium will be hosting the OPY - the Ocean Photographer of the Year (OPY2025) Exhibition! This is the first time that this Global Exhibition will take place in Africa. It runs from 13 December to 23 January 2026. This will take place in their interleading Avenue exhibition space. AND the good news is that there is no extra charge.. That's a great birthday gift to the public to see this exceptional exhibition.
You can also buy a copy of WILD OCEAN the nook by wild life photographers Peter and Beverly Pickford - the book that was recently launched at the aquarium.
